MOUNTAIN of Fire and Miracles Ministries (MFM FC) coach, Fidelis Ilechukwu has apologized for his actions after being sent to the stands during the team's 1-0 victory over Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC) in the Nigeria Professional Football League matchday 24 encounter decided at the Agege Stadium on Sunday.
Sportsbiz247.blogspot.com reports that referee Oluwabonmi Olayombo sent off Ilechukwu three minutes to the end of the game after the coach seem to have mouthed some uncomplimentary words to the 4th official, Tope Orowole.
The Olukoya Boys did end up taking all three point courtesy of Shinshinma Monday's 21st minute well taken strike, his first goal of the season.
Prior to his being sent off, Ilechukwu had received warning from the center referee after he was left livid when Olatunbosun Sikiru scored from a well work counter off an assist from Stephen Odey but was flagged offside.
The 'Working One' as fondly called, however took to his Facebook page on Wednesday to tender his unreserved apology to his fans who felt disappointed by his actions.
"To err is human and forgiveness is divine. I want to say I'm sorry for my excesses in our last home game against 3SC.
"Football is an emotional game and I believe my emotion took over me on that day. Don't forget that Fidelis Ilechukwu is human, I'm not perfect and I have realised that I made mistake. I hold the laws of the game in high esteem because without the law, football will be something else.
"This is my sincere apology to anyone who was disappointed with the way things pan out in that game," he said.
