NIGERIA international, Joe Aribo has been named in the Scottish Premier League Team of the Season following his outstanding performance for Rangers, Sportsbiz247.blogspot.com reports.
The Team of the Season was compiled by football facts and statistics website Whoscored.com.
The Super Eagles midfielder played a significant role as the Gers were crowned winners of the 2020-2021 Scottish Premier League season, ending the nine years reign of rivals Celtic.
Aribo made 24 appearances in the elite division for the Gers this season, scoring six goals and providing four assists.
According to Whoscored.com, Aribo who was rated 7.4 in a 4-4-2 formation, partners Celtic’s Ryan Christie (7.3), Hakeem Odoffin of Hamilton Academical (7.2) and team mate Ryan Kent (7.4) in the midfield.
Rangers defensive trio James Tavernier, Connor Goldson, Borna Barisic and Hibernian’s Paul Hanlon form cover for Dundee United goalkeeper Benjamin Siegrist, while Ranger’s Alfredo Morelos partners Celtics’ Odsonne Edouard in the attack.
Aribo, who helped Nigeria secure qualification to the 2022 Africa Cup of Nations has been with Rangers since the summer of 2019 when he teamed up with the side after turning down a chance to extend his contract with Charlton Athletic.
Last season, the Super Eagles midfielder helped the Gers finish as runner-up behind Celtic and won the club’s Young Player of the Year for his efforts.
The midfielder has now won his first title with the Ibrox Stadium outfit and his second career diadem after also winning the EFL League One play-offs with Charlton in 2019.
