NIGERIA international, Odion Ighalo is expecting a tough encounter
against LASK in the first leg of the Europa League last-16 clash at the Linzer
Stadion on Thursday.
Sportingsbiz247.blogspot.com reports that the 30-year-old is expected to
be handed his third start by United manager, Ole Gunnar Solskjær after Anthony
Martial failed to make the trip to Austria.
Martial scored a fine goal during United’s win over
Manchester City at the weekend but the French forward was substituted in the
second half and did not train with the rest of the first team squad at
Carrington Monday morning.
Speaking ahead of the encounter, Ighalo, who replaced Bruno
Fernandes in the 88th minute against the Citizens said he will always cherish
his time at Old Trafford.
“Seeing Manchester United from outside and supporting the
club is different from me being inside, playing for the club. I always want to
play for the biggest club in the world. I’m happy and I am going to cherish this
moment for so long.
“When the team is doing well and winning, the atmosphere
is calm and everybody is happy, everyone is smiling in the dressing room. And wining
a derby again, beating a team three times in one season is huge. Everybody is buzzing
but we are not getting carried away because we still have a greater task ahead.
“Now we are focused on the
game on Thursday, which is going to be another tough and difficult one. Every game
from now till the end of the season is going to be difficult, it’s going to be
tough and I believe we are capable to achieve great things this season,” the
former Super Eagles forward said.
