New Kwara FA boss Musa prioritises grassroots development



.Promises to operate an open door policy

ABUBAKAR Bukola Saraki (ABS FC) Ilorin Team Coordinator, Idris Musa, from Kaiama Local Government Area has been elected as the chairman of Kwara Football Association.


Musa, popularly known as Thuraya, polled 10 votes of 22 to defeat his closest rival Alhaji Toyin Olokooba, who garnered 6 votes.

Alhaji Owolabi Wopa and Malam Idris Jubril, who are the two other candidates polled three votes each in a keenly and peaceful contested elections, held at the Conference Room of the Kwara State Sports Council in Ilorin on Thursday.

The Chairman of Oke-Ero Local Government Football Council, Bashorun Kayode Bankole, emerged the vice chairman, having polled nine votes beating his closest rival Afolabi Salami, who has seven votes.Tunji Shuaib and Umar Yahaya both polled three votes each.

Abubakar Boro and Dayo Ayodele were elected into the board of the association on the platform of the Kwara North while Alhaji Wasiu Lawal and Salaudeen Jimoh are to represent the Kwara South.

Former ABS Ilorin FC Technical Adviser, Tunde Sanni and Adeshina Bello were elected into the board on the platform of the Kwara Central.

The Chairman of the electoral Committee, Salihu Ojibara, declared a seat vacant for the Kwara Central and directed the new board to pick a date when a bye-election will conducted for the position later on.

The position became vacant because only two candidates obtained forms to come into the board from the zone.

In his acceptance, Malam Idris Musa, who promises to operate an open door policy in the interest of the development of Football in Kwara, thanked everyone involved in the process that brought him in.

He also promises to upgrade football facilities and key into grassroots development in his bid to rebuild the credibility of football in Kwara State.

"For the first time in the history of Kwara FA leadership role, I am the first elected Chairman in the history of the state football.

"It's time to re-evaluate and take Kwara football to the next level. We have to do our best to rebuild and professionalize football governance by improving the infrastructures and facilities across the state to go along with our grassroot developmental program", he said.

Prior to the elections, supervised by Nigeria Football Federation officials led by Mallam Ibrahim Gusau and Yusuf Ahmed Fresh, the northern part of Kwara has never produced the chairman of the state football association.
